A cuppa coffee

Sip…lick…and order one more..

I love the catch line of Café Coffee Day which reads ‘a lot can happen over coffee’…But hey what’s with coffee?? Some magic?? Else how can these small brown bitter beads make so much happen??

I had not understood it much till I had my first encounter. From the very beginning I have never had any liking for coffee, forget even trying it. But all thanks to the CCD bang opposite our Hyderabad apartment, the saga began. My roomies used to frequent there to garb a cappuccino, by and large to break the tiring day with some liquid caffeine. And me the odd man out would always settle for a smoothie or some cooler..It was actually Nutz (pet name for my roomie) with whom I had tried my first coffee, again a cappuccino, in the same CCD. I kind of liked it, especially since it had much less steamed or textured milk (I hate milk). And for person like me (non-lover of coffee) the designer milk foam on top of the porcelain white cup has been quite an attraction since then. And I bet no one else gets arty with coffee the way the people at CCD. I love the way they make cute designs, my favorite being the different shapes of the heart….So there began the story..

Coffee till today might not be a big delight to me, but yes a bunch of friends, a few hours of conversation, that regular corner of the cafe, four/five steaming hot cups laid on the table…that’s an absolute thrill. Anytime, anywhere, a coffee with friends is about moments worth a treasure…No looking at the watch, no worries of the rains outside, no anxiety of the long day at office tomorrow, if it’s mood for coffee, so it be!! Let’s just go.

A lot actually brews over a cup of coffee.

Endless hours of procrastination, long hours of gossip, sleepless nights of study, tiresome day at work, boring minutes of meetings and more, are go well with a cup of coffee.

I am not championing ‘coffee’ for any particular reason, as drinking coffee is not what drives me. But I just love good long conversations. All the jamming up, buzzing of ''who did this...'', ''why it happened....'', ''ok ok when...''......that’s where the fun lies.

You would not even realize when it would be high time that you should be heading home. The thing that adds glitters to the whole coffee affair is the ambience at the cafe and the music. The dimly lit lamp shades hanging over your vibrant group, the hip hop chartbuster or may be the slow romantic number, the whistling of the decoction and the hoosh woosh behind the counter…make it all a perfect setting to sit back, relax and rejuvenate your spirits. Guess alcohol would also not take you to such heights!!

The gossips and discussions would be fetched from all the possible topics one could think of –

  • College day affairs
  • What happened to the sweet couple who used to walk hand in hand
  • Encounters with ‘’my hero’’ at office
  • Her skirmishes with her boy friend
  • Celina Jaitley in bikini on Manhunt
  • The flop show new movie
  • New found recipe of Pumpkin pie (maybe it sounds weird but its tastes hell…)
  • The problems with the auto-drivers

And the list of topics goes on and on…

We talk of the sun, moon, stars and even about the distant non-existent planets…All that is needed is a cup of coffee, and the same old pals…seated across each other around a table..
